5 Things You Need to Know About Your Personal Finances
in Financial Coaching

I teach people how to ask better financial planning questions to their wealth advisors so that they can get a better answer. I also teach people how to ask better questions to themselves to improve their relationship with money and their lives in a positive way.
Here are 5 things that you need to know about your personal finances that will change your life forever:
- No one cares more about your money than you do, so trust your instincts when you are getting advice from the professionals.
- Do not guard every penny in a way that keeps you away from your dreams. Jesse Duplantis, author and leader of JDM Ministries says “Budgets cost you something, visions bring you something.” And I agree.
- Tithe with the first 10% of your income each pay period. This is a biblical standard, but the practice opens your mind for abundance. It tells your mind that you have more than you need. This is a great money principle but it a great stress reducer as well. If you are not tied to a church, then donate to a charity of your choice, one that you want to see excel, or do something in your community for the less privileged. If nothing seems to resonate with you, do a little research in areas of interest to you; for instance, children, animals, conservation, hospitals or homeless shelters. I know you will find something that gives you the good feeling that comes with generosity.
- Be grateful for the things that you have now and do not complain ever about what you do not have. Do not be envious of those who you currently perceive to have more than you. Feel only gratitude for anything in your life. Start small and add to your gratitude list everyday. When we tell each other good-night in our family we say “Don’t forget to tell God what you are grateful for”, try this and list it out on paper or in your head for the last 5 minutes before you fall asleep.
- Focus all of your heart and mind only on your abundance, not your debt or lack. When you focus only on what you appreciate and want more of, that is exactly what you get; you get what you think about most.
Try to implement these tips into your life right away and enjoy the change in your bank account and in you.
