Most multi level m
arketing opportunities seem like a scam because the network marketing companies fuel unbelievable amounts of enthusiasm in their marketers. And if one of those marketers happens to be one of your friends, the scenario below is pretty typical.
When your friend approaches you, they tell you they’ve got the best thing since sliced bread. They are so excited; you have never seen them with this kind of enthusiasm and it makes you think that this must be one of those pyramid schemes or a scam.
You have the feeling that if something seems too good to be true then it must be and you need to stay away from it. Then, you try to protect them from getting caught up in this con.
Then, your friend tries to convince you that they have done all of the leg work and the company checks out, and it probably does, but you have now closed your mind and the more they talk, the more you shut down the idea.
Finally, you agree to disagree or you tell your friend that you will check it out again when they start making money. Have you ever been on either side of this scenario?
I have. In fact, I am such a network marketing skeptic that almost every time that someone brought an MLM opportunity to me, I told them that I do not buy into pyramid schemes.
I did not have an open mind and because of it I probably missed out on some great companies and profits.
At that time, I had not done the proper research on the industry as a whole. All I could see was companies using lightly trained people to move their overpriced merchandise.
I did not see a distribution system that compensated people based on their work and not their employment level. I did not see the chance to help other people achieve their dreams and I most definitely did not see the compliment that I was receiving when I was asked to take a look at someone’s business and join them in their venture.
If you are a network marketer, I urge you to use your company’s system for approaching your friends and family. I urge you to consider their needs before yours and I ask that you use patience and understanding when you are dealing with the people you want in your business.
If we all do this, maybe we can stop the wide spread multilevel marketing scam opinion that is infecting the industry today.
