Meditation has unbelievable benefits and, if practiced regularly, can improve many areas of your life. After being around for thousands of years, it is really out of the closet now and just about everyone knows about it. So why are they not doing it? I know some people believe that only flower children meditate, but that is the minority thought. I really believe it is because most people do not know what meditation really is or think it is too difficult or time consuming.
Meditation has been defined as: a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness.
Okay, so after reading that definition some people think it is difficult. But, it is not true. Meditation can be extremely easy and still effective for gaining self control, stress management and spirituality. It is really a great way to quiet your mind, release your stress, find your inner self and connect with your Creator.
The practice of meditation can fit into anyone’s lifestyle. There are many fun, quick and easy meditations that you can use to improve your attitude, stress level and your overall health, even during the busiest parts of your day.
So, if you do not have 20 minutes to sit quietly and uninterrupted in a soft chair with your feet on the ground and concentrate on only your breathing, then you can use one of these fast and easy options:
The SMILE Meditation: for the count of sixty seconds SMILE without stopping. If your cheeks start to hurt keep it up anyway. One minute will be over before you know it. When you are done, you have just made a positive attitude adjustment and you have given your mind a quick attitude adjustment. If you do this while you are driving, try not to get distracted by all of the people smiling back at you.
Try the COOL WATER Meditation: Sit comfortably with your eyes closed and take a drink of cool water. Feel it flow down through you. Concentrate only on the flow of the water into your body. Mentally stay aware of how far you can follow it; try to follow it all of the way down to your chest area. In fact, do the meditation several times until you can follow it that far. You will love and enjoy this mind power nap and at the same time you will give your body the hydration that it needs.
